José “Rafi” Rodríguez is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He attended the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez where he obtained Bachelors in Science in Chemistry. A Distinguished Graduate from the United States Air Force ROTC program, he received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in 1978. He later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Masters of Science in Systems Analysis from the University of West Florida.
After culminating his successful military career in March 2004, he then pursued a career as a Financial Advisor and now presides over “Rodríguez Financial Strategies, Limited Liability Company”. He focuses on comprehensive financial planning for professionals, small businesses and affluent clients.
He holds FINRA series 6, 63, 65, & 7 securities licenses in Ohio, Florida, New Jersey, Texas and Puerto Rico and is life and health insurance licensed in Ohio, Florida, and New Jersey. José “Rafi” is a representative of Securities America Inc, Member FINRA/SIPC and Securities America Advisors.
He is passionate about guiding professionals and business owners on how to develop a follow a financial roadmap for living life on purpose. Rafi routinely presents educational financial planning seminars throughout the community. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Dayton Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
Rafi currently serves as the President of the Ohio Chapter of the Center for Hispanic Leadership with the purpose on providing culturally relevant educational online tools, and onsite discussion roundtables to help Hispanic professionals in Ohio lead in the workplace and advance in their careers.
From 2004 to 2007, Rafi Rodriguez served as Trustee and as President of the Puerto Rican Cultural Society of Dayton, a Non-Profit organization with the mission to promote the culture and folklore of Puerto Rico throughout the Greater Dayton area.
From 2007 to 2011, he served as board member and also as President of the Dayton Hispanic Chamber of Commerce—a Non-Profit organization with the mission to help the Hispanic business owners in the area with economic development and growth.
For his volunteer work in the community, he received the 2007 President’s Volunteer Award which included a lapel pin, a certificate, and a letter from President George W. Bush. He was recognized by the Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as the 2009 Business Advocate of the Year in Ohio. He also received the Supreme Award at the Ohio Hispanic Leadership Summit 2010 and with the Ohio Military Service with Distinction award.
In 2010 and 2011 he served as the Chairman of the Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and since 2012 has served as the Executive Director. In this capacity, Rafi Rodriguez focused on leveraging the state-level resources in support of the Hispanic Chambers throughout Ohio. Also, Rafi Rodriguez is committed to be the unifying voice of the Hispanic business community with the legislators in Columbus, Ohio.
In 2012 he was featured in the Latino American “Who’s Who” for his achievements in the advancement of the Latino American business community.
For his efforts, Governor Kasich appointed Rafi Rodriguez to serve in the Ohio Minority Business Advisory Council Executive Committee to advise him on how Hispanics are taking advantage of the opportunities to do business with state agencies.
He recently accepted a board member position with the newly formed Community Advisory Council for the Division of Multicultural Affairs and Community Engagement at Wright State University.
He is the president-elect of the Dayton chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA-Dayton). He serves on the board of Directors of the United Way of the Grater Dayton Area and is a founding member of the Kiwanis Club in Beavercreek, Ohio.
Rafi Rodriguez is happily married to Nidy Rodriguez, also from Puerto Rico. They have two children and reside in Beavercreek, Ohio.
